Increase in ticket prices (from 1 Jun 2025)

From June 2025 there will be an increase in ticket prices and a reduction in the number of IDS BK tariff zones.

From 1 June 2025, the tariff of the Integrated Transport System in the Bratislava Region (IDS BK) will be adjusted. The new tariff, in addition to higher ticket prices, also brings a reform of the tariff zones, the number of which will be significantly reduced from 56 to 19 zones.

Bratislava's zones 100 and 101 will remain unchanged (however, the change is that when travelling to/from the region, zone 100 will be counted only once). One large zone 111 will be created around Bratislava, extending to Stupava, Pezinok, Bernolákovo, Štvrtok na Ostrove, Kvetoslavov and Šamorín. Together with the increase of zones, the time validity of single multi-zone tickets will be extended. When travelling longer distances, passengers will need a ticket for a smaller number of zones.

There will also be a significant change when buying a ticket with a bank payment card in Bratislava public transport vehicles (more information).

On the cross-border route 901 to Hainburg, the prices of pre-paid tickets will be increased, single tickets will remain unchanged. Dog, luggage and bicycle transport will be free on this route.

Single-trip paper tickets

Single-trip electronic tickets (travel chip card, IDS BK mobile application)

Single-trip tickets can be purchased in a paper or electronic form. Electronic tickets offer a 10 % discount compared to their identical paper alternatives.

There are several different time validity alternatives when purchasing single-trip tickets. The chart above shows all possible durations, numbers of zones and their prices.

Some of the tickets above cannot be purchased in ticket machines at public transport stops, yet all of them are available at operators' ticket offices, most news agencies and can also be purchased electronically, either directly in the vehicle right after boarding or at a platform right before getting on a train, by selecting a ticket on a nearby validator's touchscreen and touching an operator-activated card with enough credit on it, or in the IDS BK app for iOS and Android by selecting a ticket and paying by credit or debit card right in-app. When buying tickets in the app, it is strongly recommended to proceed the payment at least a minute before boarding.

The validity of single-trip tickets depends on time and the number of fare zones visited. The passenger can use all means of transport, including buses, trolleybuses, trams and local or regional trains of all operators, but may not exceed the number of zones the ticket is valid for.

All-day paper tickets

All-day electronic tickets

These tickets can also be purchased in a paper or electronic form. The electronic form, apart from offering a 10% discount compared to its identical paper alternative, it is more reliable for longer periods of time, as paper tickets may tear, moisten or get lost more easily.

The 24-hour full fare ticket can also serve as a family ticket on Saturdays, Sundays and other non-working days. The single ticket is valid for up to two adults and up to three children (6- 17,99 years), but at least one of each has to be present. The ticket is not valid for two adults with no children, neither is it valid for two or more children with no adults.

The 168-hour tickets (7-day tickets) can be purchased only in the IDS BK app.

Tickets purchased with a bank card - only for city routes 1 - 192, N21 - N99

You can use your bank card (also on your smartphone and watch) to purchase an electronic regular or discounted 30-minute, 60-minute or 24-hour ticket via a ticket validator (latest type only). Their prices are the same as if you buy a ticket with a transport card or on the mobile app (i.e. approx. 10% cheaper than paper tickets).

A regular 30-minute ticket can be purchased by simply tapping the card to the ticket validator without having to select it on the display, while other tickets (longer validity, discounted, additional tickets for fellow passengers) will have to be selected in the menu on the ticket validator display.

These tickets can be used for unlimited transfers during their validity period and it will no longer be necessary to tap the bank card to the ticket validator again when making transfers. These tickets are valid only on city routes and cannot be used to change to regional buses and trains as with other types of tickets.

SMS tickets - only for city routes 1 - 192, N21 - N99

These tickets are only valid on city routes operated by Dopravný podnik Bratislava, 24 hours a day, within fare zones 100 and 101. Additionally, it includes luggage fare, which would have otherwise had to be paid separately. Unfortunately, no reduced fare is available for SMS tickets.

The passenger must receive an SMS back with a specific ticket code before boarding – the SMS ticket is not valid until then. Please note that this may take up to several minutes, but it usually takes about a minute. In case the ticket has not been delivered within 2 minutes, it may be beneficial to send any character to 1101 to receive a duplicate ticket. This is also neccessary if the passenger accidentally deletes the SMS with the ticket.

Note: most foreign cellular connection providers will not support this service. In such case, it is neccessary to purchase a regular ticket or purchase the SMS ticket from a number registered at a Slovak cellular connection provider.

Tickets for cross-border route 901 (zone 190)

Single-trip tickets

A single ticket for cross-border route 901 from Bratislava to Hainburg can be purchased from the driver in cash, with a bank card or with an electronic wallet on the bus. A ticket purchased in this way is valid for one one-way journey only and is non-transferable.

A ticket purchased via the IDS BK mobile app is transferable and valid for 60 minutes in zones 100+101+190 (Bratislava, Wolfsthal and Hainburg).
