Similar situation is in the intercity transport where last up to 20 Ikaruses 280 are operated. They also will be replaced by new buses soon. Ikaruses 280 are usually replaced by solo buses Irisbus Karosa C 954E and Irisbus Karosa Axer on the intercity lines.

The last two Ikaruses 280 in Spišská Nová Ves were withdrawn in december 2005. One of them was Ikarus 280.08 #406 and the second one was Ikarus 280.10 #397. Both were in service on the city lines in Spišská Nová Ves.
The last 8 cities in Slovakia have Ikarus 280 buses in service on the city lines, but probably most of them will withdraw these legendary buses from service during this year.
