Introduction to Trenčín's fare conditions

When buying a ticket for the public transport in Trenčín, there are different options to consider. One can either purchase a single-journey ticket in cash directly at the bus driver, which is valid for a single ride on any single route, or purchase a single-journey ticket in an electronic validator by means of a topped-up travel card.

More frequent commuters can buy a prepaid ticket, which is valid for 30 or 90 days since purchase on as many journeys as desired.

Short-term tickets

Ticket type Full fare Reduced fare
Paper ticket (in cash, single ride) 0.80 € 0.50 € / 0.30 €*
Electronic ticket (1st ride) 0.40 € 0.25 €
Electronic ticket (2nd ride within 40 mins) 0.28 € 0.18 €
Night route ticket (paper / electronic) 1.00 € not available

* The 0.30 € option is available only to elderly people above 70 years of age. Electronic tickets for such passengers are free of charge.

Paper tickets

Paper tickets can be purchased directly at the bus driver in cash, offer a discounted option for childer under 15 years of age, students under 26 years of age and pensioners above 70 years of age. They are valid for one journey on any day route – transfers are not allowed.

We recommend having the exact amount of money ready to reduce the time the bus spends at the stop.

Electronic tickets

Electronic tickets are purchased by touching a topped-up travel card onto a validator inside a bus. The electronic tickets are valid for one journey, but a single transfer within 40 minutes of the original purchase will result in another ticket, which is discounted by 30%. This ticket is also valid for one journey.

Just as paper tickets, these also offer a reduced fare option for the categories of passengers listed above. Information about where to get a travel card for the public transport in Trenčín are below.
