Official open of the Children's Railway is on 1st May 2012 at 9:00 at the Čermeľ railway station. Two days before the official opening is the Children's Railway in test duty.

To the Čermeľ railway station you can travel by the bus line 14. You have to get off at the Čermeľ bus stop and then walk aproximately 5 minutes to the station.
To the Alpinka railway station
To the Alpinka railway station you can travel by the bus line 14. You have to get off at the Alpinka bus stop and then walk near railway tracks aproximately 5 minutes to the station.
Where to get on the bus route 14?
Route 14 has stops (Železničná zastávka Ťahanovce -) Vodárenská - Čermeľ - Horný Bankov / Alpinka / Jahodná and its interval is 30 minutes.

- The Košice's Children railway (KDHŽ) is run by the association OZ Detská železnica Košice (operator), Železnice Slovenskej republiky (operator of tracks) and by power from Košice city also by Dopravný podnik mesta Košice, a. s. (chceck on tracks).
- Children up to 3 years have the free fare and other demand of the free fare does not exist. For travelling with the Children's railway (KDHŽ) are valid only tickets from the operator - OZ Detská železnica Košice.
- Travelling in an individual wagon or an extra route is need to be ordered at least 48 hours before the route.
- The fine is in terms of § 46 Law NR SR č. 164/1997 Z. z. and its later amendments and changes.
Transport conditions
- Before getting on you have to buy a ticket in terms of valid fare.
- After getting on you have to mark your ticket by the conductor.
- While travelling are valid terms and conditions of Prepravný poriadok Košickej detskej historickej železnice v Košiciach.
