How to travel by public transport during the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship (10th – 26 May 2019)

All visitors with a valid ticket to the World Championship can travel by public transport free of charge on the day of the match.

From 10 to 26 May 2019 the IIHF 2019 Ice Hockey World Championship will be held at the Ondrej Nepela Ice Rink in Bratislava. Due to the traffic restrictions that will apply in the vicinity of the Ice Rink, we recommend visitors to the championship to travel by public transport which will be strengthened.

All visitors with a valid ticket to the 2019 World Championship can travel by public transport free of charge on the day of the match they have purchased the ticket for. The World Championship accredited attendants can also travel free of charge by public transport.

Nearest public transport stops

The Ondrej Nepela Ice Rink is available from the nearest public transport stops:

  • Zimný štadión (Ice Rink) - routes 39 53 61 63 74 78 204 205 207 - just in front of the Ice Rink
  • Odbojárov - routes 2 4 - short pedestrian transfer (about 300 meters) along the Odbojárov street
  • Bajkalská - routes 75 98 and regional bus routes - short pedestrian transfer (about 450 meters) along the Trnavská cesta street.

The fan-zone for ice-hockey fans will be set up at Trnavské mýto (in front of the Istropolis building) directly at the Trnavské mýto public transport hub and only about 700 meters from the Ondrej Nepela Ice Rink. There are stops of the public transport routes 2 4 8 9 39 51 53 61 63 64 68 74 78 201 204 and 209.

How to travel from stations and airport

World Championship visitors can travel to the Ondrej Nepela Ice Rink:

  • from Main Railway Station (Bratislava-Hlavná stanica)
    • by direct bus route 61 to the Zimný štadión (Ice Rink) stop
    • or by direct tram route 2 to Odbojárov stop
  • from the Railway station Bratislava-Nové Mesto
    • by direct tram route 2 to Odbojárov stop
  • from the Railway station Bratislava-Petržalka (trains from/to Vienna)
    • by bus route 80 from the ŽST Petržalka stop (in front of the station building at Kopčianska street) to the Kollárovo námestie terminus with change to trolleybus route 207 towards to Zimný štadión terminus
  • from International Bus Station (Autobusová stanica Mlynské nivy)
    • by direct trolleybus route 205 from the Autobusová stanica stop behind the VÚB high-rise building (pedestrian transfer along the construction site of new bus station) to the Zimný štadión stop
    • or by direct bus route 78 from Twin City stop (pedestrian transfer along the Továrenská street) to the Zimný štadión stop
  • from Bratislava Airport
    • by direct route 61 to the Zimný štadión stop

How to travel from special parking lots

During the World Championship the four special parking lots for cars and buses will be provided near the D1 and D2 highways from which the strengthened public transport will be operated:

  • Dúbravka parking lot (in front of ŠKP football stadium) - take tram route 4 from the Horné Krčace stop towards Zlaté piesky terminus  and get off at Odbojárov stop.
  • Zlaté piesky parking lot - take tram route 4 from the Zlaté piesky stop towards Dúbravka  and get off at Odbojárov stop.
  • Trnávka, Technická street parking lot - shuttle bus route H will be operated from the parking lot directly to the Ice Rink.
  • Petržalka, Tyršovo nábrežie parking lot (Danube river embankment, near Old Bridge) - take tram route 1 or 3 from the Sad Janka Kráľa, Divadlo Aréna stop (towards Hlavná stanica or Rača) and change to route 4 towards Zlaté piesky terminus at Šafárikovo námestie stop  and get off at Odbojárov stop. In the opposite direction, take route 4 from the Odbojárov stop and change to route 3 towards Petržalka at Mariánska stop.
